We greet you with the traditional ‘Aayu-bo-wan’ or ‘Long may you live’, as we commence our lively ‘Hela Handa’ program to bring you news, music and current affairs of the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, the home of the Sinhalese language.
The music is selected with a traditional bias to give coverage to the great Sinhalese civilisation and the Buddhist culture. Also we provide musical segments for the entertainment for the younger generation. Our special interviews with visitors to Sydney, and also with prominent and interesting personalities in Sri Lanka on current affairs matters, are well received by our listeners. We also encourage listeners to participate in the content of the program by way of community announcements and requests, and many announcements from Sinhalese cultural and Buddhist activities are regularly broadcast by us. We provide programs on days special to the Christians. Young Sri Lankans are specially encouraged to join us to provide a well rounded program for the listeners, and also to gain radio broadcast presentation and research experience. We invite you to participate in our work as best as you can to contribute to the good of Sri Lanka.
