Celtic FM brings a modern slice of Ireland to Australia. The show has been on air since the station opened in 1994 and is in its current format now since 1998. Celtic FM is informing and educating various generations of the Irish and wider Celtic communities of issues past and present that now shape the once battle scarred nation. A deeper understanding of these issues creates a more harmonious community in New South Wales and thus the wider community. Celtic FM promotes several community events in NSW.

The latest News, Sports News, Business & Entertainment News is delivered in a one hour format each Saturday and Sunday.

Many prominent guests have been on the show including two Irish Presidents Mary Robinson and the current President Mary Mc Aleece; the current Irish Taoiseach P.M. Bertie Ahern; songsters Andrea Corr, Cranberries, Westlife, The Frames , Paul Brady; Damien Dempsey, Flogging Molly; actors including Liam Neeson, Samanatha Mumba; writers Malachy Mc Court and Oscar Wilde’s nephew Merlyn Holland. Leading sports people including rugby legend Brian O’ Driscoll.

Convener Ciarán O’Raighne (Kieran Rigney) broadcast the first day 98.5FM went on air from Leichhardt.
