50
NATIONS - ... ever wondered what it means to run a radio station?
Well, ... imagine 50 people
of different cultural backgrounds who speak 50 different languages,
have 50 different hues of skin colour and physical features, together
in a room and all talking about the same thing from 50 different
perspectives and you will have a glimpse of how exciting the world
of 2000FM is.
The broadcasting
environment is full of traditions, customs from all over the world,
which forged a culture bound together by curiosity, tolerance and
respect for each other. We all have a high degree of respect and
appreciation for the Indigenous people of Australia and Australia
of to-day as well as for the opportunity to be part of a multicultural
nation by design not by accident.
We look at the world
around us and laugh together; we mourn the victims of atrocities
and suffering in their struggle for basic human rights and freedom
all around us. The social cohesion of the culturally diverse society
we have forged in Australia is uniquely ours, and a contrast to
what has gone wrong with multiculturalism everywhere else in the
world. Australia of to-day is futuristic in its social dimension.
We excel in the power
of language, the greatest of human discovery and invention. We cherish
the power of radio to enrich people's lives through information
and education, for it remains the most convenient form of communication
humans ever devised. Such a beautiful tool in the wrong hands creates
disasters but in the hands of those who love to be of service to
their community, it has become a source of life and encouragement.
There are more than 300 volunteer broadcasters
in 2000FM. This is a service dedicated to enriching the cohesion
of our diversity via tolerance, understanding and respect for each
other. A service for all nationalities with people as its key element;
the noble objective of 2000FM.
Select
your favorite Radio Program and enjoy the introduction of
the broadcasters, their programs and infos. Many
have chosen to include private photographs, stories about
their life, as a broadcaster and links to other websites
of your interest. We aim to provide as much information
and support for all language groups as possible.
